Petition to End Unethical Supplier Selection Practices in Schools

Dear Recipient,

We, the undersigned, concerned parents, guardians, and community members, hereby express our deep concern regarding the alarming trend of schools prioritizing supplier selection based on commissions rather than the quality of services provided. This practice not only compromises the overall quality of services but also results in unjustifiably high prices for essential services, including catering, transport, travel, photography, and uniforms.

In numerous instances, we have observed schools favoring suppliers who offer higher commissions over those who provide superior services at competitive prices. This has led to a deterioration in the standards of services, negatively impacting the well-being and satisfaction of our children and the school community as a whole.

We believe that the focus of schools should be on providing the best possible environment for learning and growth, and the selection of suppliers should align with this commitment. The current trend of prioritizing commissions over quality is not only ethically questionable but also contradicts the principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability that should be upheld in educational institutions.

In many countries around the world, such practices are deemed illegal due to their adverse effects on the quality of services and the financial burden placed on parents ( schools are not allowed to make profit from 3rd party suppliers) . We call upon our parents and local authorities, educational boards, and school administrators to address and rectify this issue immediately.

We propose the schools are capped at 10% cash commission. this allows schools to receive a benefit for their offering as well as ensuring that decisions are based on the quality of the provider as opposed to the amount they are paying the school.

We, the undersigned, petition for the following:

  • Transparency in Supplier Selection: Schools must adopt transparent and fair processes for selecting suppliers based on the merit of their services rather than the commissions offered.
  • Establishment of Ethical Guidelines: Local educational authorities should establish clear guidelines that prioritize the quality, safety, and satisfaction of services over financial incentives when selecting suppliers.

We, the undersigned, believe that the education system should prioritize the well-being and development of our children, and the current trend of supplier selection based on commissions undermines this fundamental principle. By signing this petition, we stand united in urging the relevant authorities to take immediate action to end these unethical practices in our schools.
