In signing this petition, we are asking the FAAA to explore options and possible changes to the seniority based bidding system for Qantas international crew. The current system has been in place for over 15 years. It's designed to give preference to people's rostering and leave requests based on seniority. Your progression through the system is based on the precept of new crew joining the pool over time therefore increasing the seniority of existing crew already there. It has served the crew community well when new recruitment has occurred.
So why are we asking for change? Since 2008, all new crew employed as International crew have been transferred to operate on the A380. As a result, no relative progression has occurred for crew with less than 20 years seniority and remaining on Part 1 conditions. The equality that the system was built on is no longer present. We feel that this is no longer fair.
We're not asking for is eradication, we're simply asking for changes and modifications to recognise the work environment we now operate under to make the system more equitable.

To show the FAAA the importance that we place on making seniority fairer, we need to stand up and show who we are. As members, we are entitled to have our views supported and represented.
