As we are all aware good nutritious food is vital for recovery when in hospital or ill. Salford Royal is one of the few hospitals in Manchester still preparing fresh food for patients in a bid to help the recovery process. However not for much longer. Bosses are planning to bring in frozen or chilled food provided by another company! This so called chilled cook micro slop will come in a limited variety and will be provided as an alternative to a fresh cooked meal such as pie and chips or a roast on a Sunday. Patients refusing to eat the mush will be forced to spend scandalous amounts at the in hospital facilities or travel further a field to eat! As taxpayers we deserve more! This has been tried previously within Salford Royal but people came together and put a stop to it! This will also affect staff within the kitchen cutting down man hours by half ! 500 hours lost, staff forced to relocate or find new jobs ! This is a kitchen that received numerous awards at the North West Hospital Caterers Association.
