The goal of our campaign is to get sewanee-bottled water free and support our tap water system on campus. A lot of universities, especially the ones in northeastern area have already banned bottled-water, and Sewanee can definitely take the lead in the south! The reasons that we started this campaign is because we believe that being able to have clean and safe tap water is a human right. If people have to pay for water, are we going to pay for clean air as well in the future? A lot of corporations, like Coke Cola and Nestle have controlled our public water resources and we want to challenge them by starting with the campaign on campus! Water belongs to everyone. It shouldn't be used by private corporations as a tool for making profits! Plus, the plastic bottles have created so much waste to our land. We are educated college students who should be aware of the issue and help promote more awareness. More than 20 universities in U.S. are always doing this campaign, so we are definitely not alone!
