Final supporters
In May of 2016 Charlie Rose received an honorary degree from Sewanee: The University of the South. On November 20, 2017 the Washington Post published an article in which eight women accused Rose of sexual misconduct. Since this happened, Arizona State University, the University of Kansas, SUNY Oswego, and Duke University have decided to revoke honors and awards given to Charlie Rose. Rose's wikipedia page lists Sewanee as the only university not considering revoking his honorary degree. Sexual misconduct violates the EQB guidelines put forth by the university. Students, faculty, staff, community members, and alumni must preserve the sanctity of the university motto, Behold how good and pleasant it is when brothers and sisters live together in unity, and tell the Board of Regents and Vice Chancellor that we believe Charlie Rose's honorary degree must be revoked as soon as possible.

I honestly started this thinking only a few people would care to look into it. Seeing so many of you connect with this mission is overwhelming and it is your dedication that keeps the pressure on the university to address this.

I am horrified and deeply ashamed at the administration's refusal to revoke Charlie Rose's degree. This is not the alma mater I remember and love. There must be condemnation of injustice and abuse. EQB. #speakupsewanee
For all those who love Sewanee dearly, our heart aches when we see that Sewanee’s honor has been placed in a wrong place. It is a wrong place to award Sewanee’s prestigious honorary degree on Mr. Rose’s head. Please take Sewanee’s honor back.
C'14. A valid question from the VC: "The morning after we have revoked Charlie Rose's degree, we may feel very good about ourselves, but what have we done on campus?" You're right, so take this first and necessary step and then keep going because action and justice are long overdue.
Rose is a great interviewer, without doubt. But there are other great interviewers who do not feel the need to strip in front of their female colleagues. Surely we would not have given him this degree had we known that beforehand; but we know it now, and must strip him of the degree.
If the recipient of the honorary degree has been found not to be upholding of our core values, he does not deserve the degree. This is not quite the same as earning the credits and graduating; this has public behavioral obligations, and is about honor.

C'13, Class Chair, monthly donor since 2014. I have canceled my donations and will not ask my peers to support an institution that willfully refuses to support survivors. Vice Chancellor, Board of Regents, do the honorable thing.
