We have seen it happen in the past with our beloved MMO's and it's happening again, now EVE Online.  CCP has gotten greedy and is now offering in game items at a cost; your cold hard cash.  There is no limits to what they could do with microtransactions.  Some developers have suggested they sell items like ammunition and such and more could tip the balance of the game towards those who are willing to crack open their wallets.  Instead of using their resources to fix the problems with the game, they want to add whatever they can to make more money off of you, the player.
