We the signed members of the Pullenvale Ward request that an additional light be installed to the Booker Place Dog Park. Provision for the light is already in place with conduits, cable and a pit installed.
During winter months the park users are restricted to the one end of the park with the existing light, early morning and evening with the shorter days. 70% of the Park is unusable after 5.30pm on our shortest days in June and July, as well as before 6am.
The issues raised include safety and health.
ie.
1 Tripping over park equipment and holes,dog poo and so on.
2. Health, not being able to view your dog defecating so as to clean up after it.
3. Usage of the Park after work is restricted, after 5.30pm and before 6am , to a small area of the park.

We have been visiting the park since before it was even fenced. If it had another light we would able to see if/where our dogs have done their business. Also it would be safer as many people work late or start early and find it hard to see.
A second light would increase the functional use of the park to hours available to full time workers, a great initiative and would support the health of residents who travel a great distance to this park!
I believe this second light was promised (as evidenced by the running of suitable cable/pits etc) as a part of the park redevelopment with the creation of the Booker Place playground reducing the dogpark area. It remains a sensible initiative to maximise safe and secure availability of the park to all users and should be completed in line with the original commitment.
I use the park to exercise my dogs before & after work. So when I am there it is dark and only one light restricts my vision of my dogs & others that are there. Having 2 lights from 5am and after 5pm during winter would make the park safer for everyone using it at these times & would lessen the injuries that can occur in dim lighting.
I'm signing because as a young woman I don't feel safe walking my dogs here in the late afternoon as one end of the park is too dark and unsafe to walk alone
Great idea, really needs another light !!!
With two dogs a night dog park would be priceless as we both work full time & can't get there until the weekend....
