We all face the travails of crossing the street in order to take our children to and from Shining Stars. We are petitioning the Department of Transportation to make a survey to implement traffic calming measures. I just spent the morning watching traffic zip by while dropping off the kids and honestly it is terrifying how fast people drive through this zone. I have been drafting a very long letter to the department heads to finally get their attention because waiting for an accident feels like the wrong approach to safety.

The street is scary to cross even for an adult let alone children! Plz make it safer!
Every morning is a nightmare trying to get across the road with my two kids. People fly down this street like it is a highway and dont even look for people crossing. Something needs to change before someone actually gets hit.
Thank you! such measures not only calm traffic by slowing drivers down, but also helps dissuade some from using it as a cut through in the first place.
the speed of cars travelling westbound on Chillum Road towards Kansas Ave. is particularly concerning. This is more dangerous given the hill, which makes it harder to see cars until they are pretty close.
Our school will be enrolling 157 children- each joined by a minimum of 2 adults who are charged with bringing/escorting them to school. So, on any one day that is approximately 471 adults and children who must dodge or race across Chillum Place to avoid speeding cars in order get to school. We need either a crossing guard or doped bump to calm and slow traffic . .Help us.

It's amazing that there are so many charter schools such a short distance apart that have no traffic control around them whatsoever.
