PS #34 wants their choice to be approved by the Jersey City School Board Members, just like the board approved PS #20’s choice. I was just looking over the notes people are leaving and honestly it is so overwhelming to see how much this name change means to the families who go there every single morning. I have been burning up the phone lines trying to get some face time with the board members because they really need to understand that this is about more than just a building sign. It is a slow process and I am getting impatient but we just have to keep showing them that we are paying attention.

President Obama for all he has done in his 8 years deserves to have a school named after him and the capricious whim of a Board member shouldn't override the will of the community.
Yes, I would like a school in Jersey City to be named after President Obama. He is an inspiration of what can be achieved with education, tenacity, and public service.

As an Alumni of P.S. #34 our school should have a strong name as the school is over a hundred years old, every other school in Jersey City has a name to stand behind the number why not p.s.# 34 deserve The name Barack Obama,
Yes we want our school named after our first Black President, Barack H. Obama. Not sure why the JCPS Board is fighting against the students and parent on this school name selection. Why are can't the students, parents and neighborhood, "Make it their Own" or is that action only available to a select few.

The PS34 families and staff should pick the name of their school. Whatever happened to students first?
