"Item 2 – Affects Regulation IV(a) – The Players – All Divisions of Baseball and Challenger
(a) Little League (Majors) Division: Any candidate who will attain the
age of 9 years on or before December 31 and who will not attain the age of 13
on or before December 31 of the year in question shall be eligible to compete
in Little League Baseball (subject to the local league board of directors
alignment of this division). This means that a child who will be 12 years old
on December 31 or earlier, is eligible to play that year; a child who will be
13 years old on December 31 or earlier will not be eligible for either local
league play or tournament play at any time during the calendar year in
question"
The only exception is "A child who is league age 13, and who was born May 2002 – December 2002 is eligible for the Major Division in 2015."
This is bad for every child in Little League, not born between May 2002-December 2002, as they will lose a year of eligibility. If your child was born after the current date of April 30th and this change is voted in your child will be 2 years older according to Little League. Example, if your child is a League age 10 in 2014 and is born on August 30th then in 2015 he/she will be a League age 12. Your child will be competing with other children in the league that may be 20 months older.
We have to stop this vote from happening or have it voted down. Please sign this petition to let the Little League Administrators know that you do not want your child to have a year of Little League stripped from them just to conform to other association’s standards. If they want to pass this rule there is a way to implement it without negatively impacting the players that have been working towards something special.
Sign this petition to have the 2014 Little League International Congress vote “no” or for them to grandfather all current players League age 8 and above.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have joined this cause. We are approaching a quarter thousand signatures and it is entirely because of your own efforts. If you could pass this along to someone else today we might just get the attention we need to protect our kids.

I really never expected this to grow so fast but the momentum belongs entirely to the parents who jumped in to help. It is incredible to see so many people who care deeply about protecting these kids and their time on the field. Thank you for stepping up.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have joined this effort to protect our kids. We are nearing the first hundred signatures and I truly believe if you tell just a few other parents about this today we can reach that mark before the meeting arrives.

The problem is that it is broke. For example: My son's birthday is 4/21. There is a kid who's birthday is 5/2. He is in 7th grade and my son is 3rd. He throws 70mph. How is that competitive for baseball? How do you play 90% of the season at 13 in a 200 foot field?
They should change it to reflect the school year like every other sport does. Kids born in November and December get a very bad deal. Should be Septmeber 30th or October 31st. I am not sure which of those 2 dates include the majority.
I agree. Crazy for all the kids who'll lose 1 year of eligibility. My Dec son will jump 2 years next year and face kids 2 yrs older than him. This doesn't even fit with the school cutoff to allow kids to play with others in their grade. It is disheartening.
I like the age change. Kids are definitely too old in the current format. If this gets kids more in line with school ages, I'm all for it. However, the points I'm protesting is the grandfather law. It needs to be extended. Too many kids are affected this way.
If approved, this rule will remove half of the 12 year olds from the Major division, most won't play up,It will also bring 9's up to majors who have not had a chance to develop at the minor level.Bad rule,Let the 12's enjoy there last year on the 60 foot diamond. I
This is not fair for those may june and july and aug birthdays, these young kids dont care about who they play with they just want to play ball and get a fair shot. Let them play instradvof taking a year away!
Please change the age back to the previous eligibility standards for the sake of the kids!

LL just offered up an entire group of kids as sacrificial lambs. An 8 year old playing against a 10 year old? It's irresponsible and dangerous. You grandfather everyone or no one. A batch of kids in a 20 month age span league? Insane.
