Stop the Bushfires in Australia
Help save the dreadful impact of the Australian bush fires
Fires in Australia are destroying the homes of over 8,400 koalas. For their sake, this must come to an end. Together, we can put the blazes out - even if you live on the other side of the world. Together, we can save them.
The Negative Impacts from the Fires
It is estimated that over one billion animals lost their lives to the Australian bush fires. This includes kangaroos, bird species, fish species, frog species, wallabies and of course; koalas. Fires have destroyed at least 30% of the Australian animals’ homes and the fires need to be stopped for their cause. As well as this, ash from the fires has landed in playgrounds, schools, backyards and beaches. The fires produce fine particles which pollute the air, directly threatening human and animal lives. The smoke can also irritate the eyes and respiratory system.
How Local Communities are Helping
Locals have put their lives and jobs on hold to become volunteer helpers in an effort to stop these blazes. Volunteer firefighters have also devoted themselves to putting out the flames. The recruits are from local towns where fires are just a part of Australian summer. Lots of websites, Instagram accounts and other social media pages have setup donation systems for people across the world to help put out the bushfires. This can help with out-of-pocket costs like the volunteers who don’t have enough money to work without pay.
How You can Help
To help save the koalas, you can donate to the Australian appeal. When the fires are clear, people will need to help restore what has been lost, and Australia appeal will help provide urgent care for injured wildlife. They can restore homes for koalas and plant species that are urgently needed for koala habitats. There are also many other places to donate; Red cross Australia, Country Fire Authority Victoria, Australian Wildlife, Nature Recovery Fund, and many more. If you can't afford to or don't want to donate to help the fires, you could spread awareness to people that could donate. This means telling people like your friends and family about the fundraisers.
