Currently the state of Maryland is attempting to place a hiking trail that will go through the center of 5 farm fields as well as cross private homeowners property. There have been multiple attempts to compromise with the state to use an old trail next to the road that’s been maintained and used by local residents for decades. This trail could be upgraded in a manner that pleases everyone. Also this new trail forces patrons to cross north point road at a very dangerous curve where people have been killed and injured. There has been a lack of transparency from the DNR to provide information, maps, and community meetings regarding this trail as well as a total disregard for safety. We support any community improvements such as hiking trails, but we do not support trails that leave landowners losing portions of their land.
