the council just delivered the news that the truck stop proposal has been officially denied. im honestly speechless right now and cant thank you enough for sticking with me on this. we won and now that park stays quiet for the kids so lets just enjoy this for a while.
I am in full support of smart, economic growth and development for the Town of Monteagle, TN. I do NOT support another truck stop being built at Trussell Road, Sampley Rd, and Dixie Lee Hwy, encroaching upon an already existing residential area and too close to a children's ballpark. Monteagle Town Council MUST vote "NO" to this development.
I shudder to think what the far-reaching impact will be on our cherished mountain top community, both environmentally and socially. My greatest concern is the sex trafficking which is abundant at truck stops. This will add to the already drug-plagued concerns of the county. Please stop the truck stop!

We agree the town ought to seek revenue from less polluting sources, that do not damage neighbors .. I own an historic 120 year old home and business and will receive negative impact from the proposed Petro

This large truck stop project, so close to the school, playground, funeral homes, and private homes, should not be approved. The negative consequences to our children and our community far outweigh the benefits to a few.

MSSA is a timeless national treasure. Building a massive truck stop in it’s backyard will have a devastating impact on this unique historical spiritual place. Please do not allow this to happen.

Land values will be greatly affected, negatively, should this truck stop be built. There is a much better use of this property, i.e. bowling alley, community center, etc., that will benefit the people, not truckers.

this large truck backs up to an existing single family subdivision and will negatively impact it. If Monteagle needs another truck stopit should be across the interstate and trucks should not be allowed to travel through Monteagle's main business district; danger to pedistrians and cars

I am horrifed to learn about this. That sounds dramatic, but I mean what I write. These kinds of things are happening all over the south east and ruining historical areas and beautiful natural areas and resources. Poor communities are often targeted, which is cynical and manipulative.
There are many long term, constructive ways to boost the local community and economy.
For example, I am a screenwriter and one of my TV series (not yet in production) is set in Monteagle. If the series gets made, it would be partly filmed there and brings lots of work and outside interest into the Monteagle community. If that huge Truck stop is built, it would ruin the chances of Monteagle being used as a location, as it would ruin the historical little town as well as much of its natural beauty and resources.

Establishment of a large commercial truck stop in Monteagle is antithetical to the primary attraction that the Cumberland Plateau presents for tourism development., that is the mountains natural beauty and serenity. The project should be stopped.
