As Coconutters treasurer, Neville Earnshaw, said via the Lancashire Telegraph , the "250-year-old dance through the streets of Bacup had been dealt a 'death blow'".
In brief, Lancashire Police have refused to marshal traffic during their annual parade on Easter Saturday andBritannia Coconut Dancers received an 'ultimatum' to pay £4,000 for traffic management or cancel their famous procession.
Despite full support from the local (and not so local) community this seems to be hitting a brick wall. Please show your support and hopefully, (you never know), the Council and everyone else responsible for putting the brakes on this may see sense.

12k people in Bacup (2001 census)… if 50% sign, that's saying something.... if it doesn't change anything, should those who sign donate £1 each, that’s the money right there!
