Stop USA Factory Farming
Factory farming is a fairly recent industrialization of farming practices by which as many animals as possible are held, raised, and slaughtered each year for maximum profit. Consequently, animals are kept confined for the duration of their lives in very small unsanitary spaces, with antibiotics being used in place of medical care. Animals are inhumanely treated, then inhumanely transported to their place of slaughter, and then often inhumanely slaughtered as equipment malfunctions. This is all due to the high density of livestock in factory farms, and the significant reductions in farms over the last few generations. In addition, these animals are deliberately excluded from animal protection laws that would require their ethical treatment, and this petition requests that they be included under those laws. Please, lets work together to end this prevalent and ongoing practice, for as Mahatma Gandhi said "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
This petition will request legal protection for farm animals and will be submitted to Tom Vilsack, Secretary of Agriculture.
