Stop Minto Freed Development
Rezoning Application File # 11 230641 STE 20 OZ Minto BF Inc. and Freed BF Inc. 578 Front Street West I strongly object to the proposed development and application for a re-zoning of this site for the following reasons: - The proposed development is asking for permission to build nearly double the amount of density and height allowed in the City of Toronto’s Official Plan, Secondary Plan and Zoning By-law. - The development and its residential and commercial occupants would add significantly to traffic congestion problems as well as strain already inadequate services such as park space, parking, and pet facilities. - The proposed development provides no significant benefits to the Community and the City nor does it contain any rationale or justification as to why the proposal should be approved in its current form. - The developers have not responded in any meaningful way to major concerns about the project expressed by the Community. What is at stake goes beyond this single site and proposal and has serious implications for the future of the entire area and the quality of Toronto. It will cause a domino effect on the entire area and threaten what is a successful mixed-use community at a mid-density level. I request the Mayor, members of Community Council, members of City Council and City staff to reject this proposal outright in its present form. I further request that the City mandate the developer to work with the Community, the local councillors and City staff to come up with a sustainable proposal that meets City objectives for sustainable development and city building.
