Speeding has been an ongoing issue for the residents of Academy Street in Wenatchee. The neighborhood has teamed up with Cascade Christian Academy and Cascade Christian Child Care, whom we share the street with, in providing banners, signs and green visual warning buddies with flags as well as some neighbors making signs of their own posted in their driveway. The cars are still exceeding the speed limit on our small street and its time that some serious safety measures are put in place.

By placing in speed bumps we can ensure reducing the speed of cars and the safety and protection of our children and residents. We share the street with a school and child care center as well as numerous families with children residing on and near this street. As a result, there are many children playing outside, riding bikes and scooters, and traveling to friends houses, as well as students going to/returning home from school, children taking walks and people running and walking their pets. I am afraid for mine and my children's safety, as are other parents and residents of Academy Street.

Now, we are witnessing near collisions, children nearly being hit by careless drivers speeding down the road, drivers texting while driving and swerving into our vehicles parked in front of our homes. Several accounts have even been brought to the police and Public Works. We would like to see this problem resolved before anyone is injured. This is a concern that has gone unchecked for long enough.

We need something done ASAP. Please help by signing this petition.

im still dropping off packets at public works and hearing back from neighbors who keep seeing people fly down the road. its frustrating that we have to fight this hard just to make the street safe for the kids but im not giving up.

The street is not a long street. I don't think speed bumps would interfere with the residents . They would just slow the hurried drivers down a touch.

People need to remember there is a school and daycare on this street. SLOW DOWN PEOPLE!! I know you wouldn't want to see your children hurt by someone speeding!

The speeding is completely out of control on Academy St. The street is one block long! People must slow down before the unthinkable happens. It is surprising to see how many parents are the ones going too fast as they drive to the daycare to get their child. There is no way they could stop in time if a child was in the street. Speed bumps will make a difference on this street. I see no other way to get the drivers to slow down.

I feel very strongly about this. There needs to be change. The school and neighbors have done all they can to help keep not only their kids but other kids safe. There needs to be more than just signs up.

I agree and feel there needs to be way more patrol everywhere. We walk down red apple to get to school in the morning and after school. It's terrifying. Most cars don't even stop at stop signs.
