The Town reached out and confirmed the name Unity Park is staying put. I am honestly stunned by how quickly you all came together to protect the work our volunteers put into these fields. Thank you for making sure our partners truly listened to the community this time.

AYSA needs your support. In an effort to do our part and continually improve the looks of our baseball fields our Board approved and purchased two new scoreboards (at a cost of over $10,000). On our new scoreboards we had the current name of the park added. "Unity Park". A fitting name since the park is a partnership between AYSA, AISD and the Town of Argyle. (Unity: the state of being united or joined as a whole). One of those scoreboards will also be a memorial to John Loutherback, who was a large part of the Argyle community and AYSA organization and someone we lost way too early.

After the purchase of the scoreboards the Town decided to seek public opinion in renaming the park without consulting with either of its partners in the park. We would have appreciated that they at least reach out to the group of volunteers that give so much of their time to the kids in our community. AYSA spends money monthly on maintaining the fields, emptying the trash and keeping the restrooms as clean as possible. On top of that our Baseball VP spends hours weekly managing the upkeep of all three diamonds. Currently AYSA has two additional projects planned to improve the fields at "Unity Park". We will soon be installing two new light poles on the new softball field so that field can be used year round. In addition we are currently seeking sponsorship in building new batting cages at the park (if you would like to donate money or your companies expertise to this project we would love to hear from you).

As you can see the AYSA Board and volunteer parents that support our kids have taken a lot of community pride and responsibility in "Unity Park". We ask that you realize our commitment and help support us in keeping "Unity Park" as the name of the park. Our hope is to rally community support and keep the name intact. Please sign this petition if you support UNITY PARK and AYSA.

How come AYSA didn't check w/ the city before writing the check, why's it on the city? Anyway...I'd rather go w/ that name then have the town reimburse AYSA and put the 10k back on taxpayers.

I think unity park is perfectly fitting. We are so divided in this world right now. When we see the name, maybe we will unite for the betterment of our community.

Understandable the the City of Argyle has the ability to change the name, I would agree that if leased or rented out, AYSA should have been contacted. I also don’t think the AYSA needs to try and embarrass the City through this petition. I am glad n favor of keeping the Unity park name, and if unity is truly desired then seek to understand why the proposal and vote was made for the change.

I originally voted for Eagle Park but I am changing it to Unity Park. All entities should be in communication with each other and work together.

I believe AYSA should have the rights to name Unity Park. They’re a volunteer organization who puts a lot of time and effort into those fields.
