Dear Honorable Members of the Hoboken City Council,
I am writing to you as a friend of the Hoboken Public School District. Recently it came to my attention that the City Council is considering diverting a percentage of the PILOT payment from 770 Jackson Street that is earmarked for the K-12 Hoboken District Public Schools (per resolution passed by city council in 2017) to the three charter school districts in Hoboken.
The K- 12 Hoboken Public School District includes over 3,400 students and employees, and is required to educate every child who enrolls, without limitation. Please do not divert any funds from the PILOT payment for 770 Jackson away from this rapidly growing population.
I am asking for your commitment to vote “NO” on any resolution that will deviate from the 2017 agreement.

I checked the count this morning and saw we hit one hundred signatures. This is entirely due to the people who cared enough to step up when this first started. I am honestly amazed that so many of you found this and felt it was worth your time.

Disappointed that this is even happening. Honor the original deal and support the public students.
Hoboken schools have 3400 kids. You cant just slash their budget like that it isnt right
LEAVE THE FUNDING ALONE. Every kid in hoboken deserves a fully funded school district. Stop playing games with our taxes.
VOTE NO. Public schools are the backbone of our community. Quit trying to divert money meant for our kids.
Our public schools need this money. Dont take it away to give to charters that already have plenty. Stick to the agreement.

Keep the promise made in 2017. Why is this even a discussion? The public schools are growing so fast they need every cent.
