My name is Caroline Goodliffe and I am requesting for funds to carry out mental health training for staff in the department of Science and Engineering. By signing this petition you are signing your support for training. I would like academic staff to learn how to:

• Recognise mental health symptoms
• Support students through their conditions
• Direct students to the appropriate help

1 in 4 people are affected by mental illness each year. Students may feel more comfortable confiding in lecturers that they see regularly over an advisor. Providing these staff members with basic skills and recognition could benefit student academic performance, or more importantly their wellbeing and safety.

Right now this is only possible for Science and Engineering but the end goal is to provide every school with mental health training.
