Hi Trailmark neighbors. I am posting in hopes of getting your support. Back in March our garage door broke and we needed to quickly install a new door. We had an opportunity to update our garage door. We reviewed other doors in the area and followed some similar styles in our selection. At the time, the DRC guidelines (which have been updated recently after several homeowners have been targeted with issues in recent months ironically) only mentioned that the garage needed to have raised panels. We comply with the number of panels. Our panels are not of a complete raised nature, but are a stamped in panel that has a vertical board look to it, which wasn't against the DRC guidelines at the time. Shortly after our install, which we had to replace due to the door being broken before we received approval or denial, The HOA has indicated it is not allowed and is prohibited by DRC guidelines that were in place during that time frame.
There are a good handful of others in the neighborhood that have different styles of doors, hardware, etc. that the DRC now, after the fact and after several months and even years, indicating they are in violation. Which back in March 2020, there was no guideline disallowing the style of door we current have nor what other neighbors have also have.
Here is my ask, in September 2020 our formal hearing with the HOA Board to present evidence and community wishes (where you all come in) to ask for the decision to be overturned and allow us as a community to have these type of doors. I am asking for your support by signing the petition below.
When the appeal takes place, I will update everyone and ask for anyone interested and available to please be in attendance if you can.

We have an original to the house garage door that is going to need to be replaced soon and do not want to have to replace it with this same style. Love the doors on this home. Very elegant.
Get with the times. These are single family homes and is an upgrade to their property. It is not a town home that need to have everything uniform.
Please approve this garage style. It adds value to the home and is in keeping with current design standards. And this, in turn, adds value to all of our homes. Get with the times, DRC. You have the ability to exercise judgment.
These types of upgrades are keeping our community looking beautiful, and are often now the only viable choices as 20+year have gone by since the neighborhood has been built.
I think upgraded garage doors make our neighborhood look BETTER like a nice accessory. The cookie-cutter doors we all have today looks more like costume jewelry... times change, we should have more flexibility to make nice changes as well.
We would like a similar door someday too

Having every house look exactly the same makes our neighborhood look cookie cutter rather than stepping it up to look custom. This garage door is more modern than what the builder put in 20 years ago. It blends very well with the stone exterior and the neighborhood natural environment look and feel. I wish you success.
