Please sign this petition to show your support for building a new public dock and walkway to provide the public safe access from Lake Hartwell to the businesses in Hartwell Village, Lakeside Lodge Clemson, NewSpring Church, and other area establishments. There is currently no public access from the lake to this area, but many members of the public are frequently accessing these businesses by beaching their boats on the shore which is unsafe.
This new public dock will dramatically improve safety while not costing any taxpayer dollars, as it would be paid for and maintained by private funds. Additionally, water traffic will be minimally affected since there is already a large water intake structure extending from shore near the site.
Despite concerns for safety, public demand, and the support of Oconee County Council, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has rejected the request for this Lake Hartwell public access point. It is unfair to the citizens and businesses of Oconee County, in addition to anyone on Lake Hartwell that wants to safely access this development, that the Corps continues to approve expansions to other public access areas in the City of Clemson, Clemson University and Clemson Marina, while denying those same opportunities in Oconee County.

As a homeowner on Lake Hartwell, that also uses our home as a short term rental, it would so nice to offer such an experience for our guests. We have people coming from all over the country to vacation, tour or visit students at Clemson and just to come to Upstate SC.
This is an unsafe situation. As a solution paid for by private business, I think this is the ideal plan and would greatly benefit the businesses that are facing economic challenges due to COVID-19.
My husband and I recently stayed at the Lodge and wanted to bring our boat and stay a few extra days in the area, but without easy access to a dock, we decided not to. The area lost out on the additional spending we would have done had we stayed longer.
A dock would be a great improvement to this area. As an investor in the Lakeside Lodge this would be a wonderful addition to support not only that property, but the overall economic impact of the supporting shops, church, and restaurants.
This would open up so many fun activities for lake goers in our area! Lake hartwell has little to no public access docks with restaurants, hotels, and churches accessible via boat. This would not only benefit the residents of South Carolina, but Georgia as well!

Yes, with all the human habitation with Lakeside Lodge, Hartwell Village, new student apartments, & NewSpring Church, there is a need for boat access to all these attractions.

I am a former marina/dock designer. I live on Lake Hartwell in Clemson. I feel that the proposed dock would serve the community well by providing safe access to the Oconee County side of the lake. I am in full support of approving this dock.
