We, the undersigned (students, faculty and staff guild, other union and community members), find it utterly irresponsible that an academically outstanding nursing program at LA Southwest College (LASC) is in jeopardy of losing its accreditation due only to inadequate facilities from the district’s bond mismanagement.

We stand 100% behind the LASC's nursing program and its efforts to achieve a permanent and BRN acceptable teaching and learning facility for LASC. We expect the Board of Trustees to act immediately to provide a state-of-the-art facility to support its students, faculty, staff and community interests.

It’s all about equity! Give us what we need to serve our students and community!

I was just looking at the screen and realized we are creeping up on that five hundred mark which feels wild considering how quiet things were last week. If you have a second please toss this link into a group chat or post it somewhere visible because we need to hit that milestone before the board stops listening to us for the weekend. I honestly can not believe we are still fighting for this but it feels like we might actually be getting somewhere if we just keep the momentum going.

I just looked at the screen and saw the number one hundred staring back at me which is actually wild because I figured this would just stay between a handful of us. Honestly it makes me feel like maybe the board will finally stop ignoring the fact that our nursing students are being completely sidelined by this madness.

I checked the count just now and we are hovering right near that hundred mark which feels like a real milestone even if it is just a starting point for us. If everyone reading this grabs the link and sends it to just one person we will blast right past that threshold and show the trustees that we are not going anywhere.

Nurses are in demand. LA is not producing the prepared professional nurses we need, especially as Californians over 80 are the fastest growing age group in the state. We need a strong nursing program to supply the trained workforce to fill the high-skill healthcare jobs of today & tomorrow.

Please save the nursing program, it is desperately needed especially in this community for those students that cannot afford the high tution at the other schools. Nurses like myself who have retired need these younger nurses to replace us.

This is a valuable program that is needed in the South Los Angeles community. It provides a path to stable, middle class employment for students, while also helping to meet the growing demand for health care workers in the US.

The Nursing Dept at LASC continues to create qualified and well-rounded Nurses, year after year, even with inadequate facilities. Imagine what they could do with state-of-the-art buildings and equipment. The could share the statewide top 10 spot with LA Harbor College.

Save the nursing program and provide a viable career path for the residents of this community! The average waitlist for ASN programs is nearly three years at most community colleges. Our students need options!

Nursing is a vital medical profession. Nurses hold down costs, while often providing health and comfort services which doctors cannot. LASW College is the premiere education facility in LA County to provide trained nurses. The Bd should hang its head in shame for threatening to close the program.
