Support of Children's Woodland Park at Wolf's Lane
Dear Village of Pelham Board,
As a resident or business owner in Pelham, I am in support of the Junior League of Pelham’s proposed children’s woodland park at the intersection of Second Street and Wolf’s Lane. Pelham has limited green space, and developing an otherwise underutilized park to create a special place for children and families to convene, enjoy and develop a sense of community is a wonderful opportunity for our town.
The natural-style play space being proposed is very complementary to
the unique character of our downtown. It’s a way for our children to
have the experiences that we did – walking along a fallen tree, climbing
branches and playing hide and go seek among tall grasses and shrubs –
reconnecting with nature and their imaginations.
Community is not created in our backyards. Community is created and enhanced in the common spaces where residents can connect with one another, businesses and with the town in which we live. This park gives residents another reason to come and stay downtown. I am in support of this initiative, as I believe this project will benefit our children, families, businesses and community as a whole.
