We are asking for your support for a motocross facility in Ellijay, Ga. There are some skeptics that are not happy about the idea and are claiming it will destroy the natural landscape and harm the environment, as well as saying it's a safety issue. I believe all of us that ride know the risk associated with the sport and accept that fact. It's a 90 acre track of land and the facility will sit on maybe an acre in the middle of it, trying to limit as much sound and disturbance as possible. That being said, we need everyone's help to let the commissioners and planning and zoning committee know that this is a family sport that cares as much about the natural landscape as anyone else but also enjoy God's creation to do the things we love. We are striving to give our youth a healthy family activity that they can cherish forever and help boost our local economy in the process with hotels, restaurants, gas stations, etc. Please sign the petition with your thoughts on how this is a positive thing for our town and how important it is in the day we live in to give our youth a healthy and fun activity to enjoy with their families. The planning and zoning meeting will be held April 21, 2016 and the petition has to be in to the planning and zoning committee by no later than April 14, 2016. So please help spread the word and let's come together as a motocross family and show our support.

Thank you all so much for your support this far.

I spend several hundred dollars a weekend for me and family to enjoy this sport at different tracks. It would be a great addition to Ellijay revenue wise and create a strong core group in this community. Motocross is a great sport that keep families together.

We're local farmers and understand the concerns of many but also we know the importance of "family time"! We've been around this sport our whole lives and my husband and children have always enjoyed participating in it! It's a great way to spend time together after a long week of working hard!

A good safe place for families to go and enjoy a common interest is something this county really needs. Not to mention all the places we grew up riding around have been sold off, posted, or developed. Pretty soon theyre won't be anywhere to ride and people will have to travel out of town do do something they love.

i think as a community we should really support any healthy outdoor activity. I am not a rider myself but I have known many riders and mountainee biked with some. Many of these riders are amazing athletes that live a healthy lifestyle and absolutely are an asset to our community.

Mx is a family sport, my son and I have had many wonderful times together. The lack of tracks in the north Ga area makes it hard for families to enjoy the sport together without traveling for hours.

Motocross is such a family sport. We race against each other, but would do anything in the world for each other. You will never find more compassionate people than at a dirt bike race. Our children need to have a place to learn respect and competition, and keep them busy, and out of trouble. What better place then a track?

We need more places to ride and less video games and computers. How can you enjoy the outdoors if you are locked up in a house.
