Recently, there has been a rise of criminal activities involving residential break-and-enters crime in Surrey area. There is 42% increase of this type of incidents in the fourth quarter of 2014 over the same time period of previous year. In Fraser Heights area alone fifty (50) break- enter, ninety-four(94) theft from motor viecle, thirty- two (32) theft of motor viecle over the past six (6) months.

That really shocks us and severely affects our life in the area as we are concerned about safety and security of our lives and property. As a neighbers of the Fraser Heights community and residents of Surrey we are willing to organize a block watch program but do not feel that we can do it alone. As such, we would ask:

1. An increase in police presence with patrol of more police cruisers and bicycles,

2. Reduction of policy response time in 911 calls; currently it may take hours, if not days, for police to show up in the crime scene,

3. More officers deployed in property crimes investigations to reduce the time and increase the rate of charges,

4. Publish most updated statistics of crime rate and results of police investigation,

5. Legislative changes in stricter law deterring property related crimes.

For residents of age of 19 or over in Surrey, please sign the petition and show your support!

Our friend's house was broken and entry by four big professional thefts, They called the police while the theft still in the house, but it took half an hour for police to arrive. They were very scared, so are we.

We have experienced a incredible high crime rate in Fraser Heights recently, so many broke ins. We don't feel safe here.

A similar increase in crime is occurring in the Clayton area. I think that excessively dense new development without supporting infrastructure (roads, proper parking, schools, amenities) is partly to blame. Consider also supporting this petition to rethink the latest poorly-planned development proposal in Cloverdale: https://www.change.org/p/christopher-atkins-linda-hepner-don-t-eliminate-greenside-s-natural-space-with-high-density-development
