Port Hope, Ontario is widely regarded as Ontario's best preserved 19th century streetscape. Those who have walked the streets quickly recognize that our dedication to this historic preservation has made Port Hope into one of Ontario's most charming and visually-stunning architectural gems. Recent changes inside the Capitol Theatre have resulted in the previous, individually lettered, outdoor marquee being "updated" to a digital marquee. There is no question that the decision to make this change is purely short-sighted and was void of consideration for the towns future as a charming place to live and remarkable place to visit. Both the historical integrity of the Capitol Theatre and the town's aesthetic appeal have been compromised with this recent change and I say it's time we take it back!
