Brisbane City Council finally folded and agreed to move the bus stop to our doorstep. We refused to let them ignore our safety concerns any longer and today we forced them to act. Keep watching this space to make sure they actually finish the work on time.

Students and staff make hundreds of bus trips to and from campus each week. Whilst walking is healthy, we believe having a bus stop closer to campus would significantly improve conditions of personal safety:

- after dark

- during bad weather

- when you're unwell or unable to walk any distances.

In support of this goal, we are asking SAE students and staff to add their names to this petition. Once we have received sufficient numbers as a show of support, we will then submit the petition results to Brisbane City Council, along with a request that they either:

1) make an additional stop on Montague Road (near the Jane Street intersection), or

2) make a detour off Montague to incorporate a new stop in Buchanan Street (behind campus).

A bus stop located closer to campus would greatly improve safety in winter, when it is dark earlier. Students and staff would not need to walk so far to catch the bus. This already applies all year round to those who attend evening classes.

Please add your signature to the petition now, and lend your support to a very important request!

Brisbane City Council is running out of excuses to ignore the safety of our students. This surge in support proves we are fed up with being forced to walk alone in the dark and we are not backing down until they put a stop closer to campus.

For obvious reasons, option 2 would be the more desirable for the cases of bad weather and anyone with injuries or unable to walk.

Bringing the bus stop closer to Jane Street will provide a service for our important Higher Education and Vocational Education students, who are coming from all areas in and around Brisbane and the greater South East Queensland on a daily basis.

bringing the glider closer is the best idea, as a student that has to walk i can say that its definitely time to bring it closer. i know its not that far away but you try carrying a bag full of books and a laptop everyday, its not easy

This will substantially improve safety for our staff and students. The area is very unpopulated at night which creates an unsafe environment for both staff and students.

As a staff member at SAE, I strongly believe making a small detour closer to campus is absolutely imperative for student and staff safety. During the week, the campus is often open until midnight and walking around West End at this time of night to get to a bus stop is just not safe.

I am a staff member and I have to admit that I feel unsafe walking to the bus stop after dark, It's a very isolated area as well. I usually get an uBer if I work after 6 but students don't necessarily have the money to do this.

We would all benefit directly from this, particularly when the weather is bad or if we've been injured!

Option 2 is a better and safer stop in my opinion.
