The council has officially scrapped the current plans for One Washington Place. It has been a long and draining road to get here but our persistence finally forced them to listen. Keep a close watch on what comes next because we have proven that this city belongs to us.

Final supporters
Despite substantial opposition from the citizens of Batavia, our City Council continues to move forward with the One Washington Place project, even after the city's Plan Commission decided that the building was too large.
While
we are not opposed to the redevelopment and improvement of downtown
Batavia, great attention must be paid to keeping its historic look and
small-town feel intact, as these qualities often attract both visitors
and new residents to our wonderful city.
Once Batavia's character and charm are compromised, they cannot easily, if ever, be regained.
We strongly urge that City Council halt any further motion on this project and seriously reconsider the current design.
It is our responsibility as residents
to voice our concerns, and we expect our elected city officials to give
equal consideration to economic development and preservation of the
character of our beautiful downtown.

We just hit 250 signatures and it is exhausting to see how much work is left to get through to these council members. Still I am not walking away from this fight because our downtown is worth the effort.

Keep the charm of our downtown please. We dont need some massive box that kills the look and feel of the whole area.
So tired of the council ignoring the commission. This project is a total mistake for the neighborhood.
Batavia doesnt need another giant eyesore. Think about the people who actually live here.
Ridiculous waste of space. Fix it up but leave the character alone.
This building is just way too big for that lot. Listen to the residents for once instead of just pushing developer plans through.
