The Ministry of Defence confirmed today that the proposed air show will transition to RAF Coningsby. We have verified the official project timeline and will maintain oversight during the relocation process to ensure the transition remains on track.

The RAF has announced the end of the Waddington International Air Show. The news, while not a surprise, comes as a huge blow to the county - but we understand the reasons for the decision. RAF Waddington is in the front line of the country’s air defence and it is no longer a suitable venue to host a public event that attracts 130,000 spectators each year.

But there are other options in Lincolnshire. We have bases at Scampton and Coningsby, which could play a role and the RAF says it is willing to investigate at least one of these possibilities. We believe that a solution exists in this county which will enable us to stage a superb display and inspire the next generation of RAF recruits. It is important that happens.

We are the ‘Bomber County’. We have a unique relationship with the RAF. This county has supported the RAF through thick and thin, triumph and tragedy. The people of Lincolnshire took the RAF to their hearts long ago and that bond is still as strong today. Many would say that Lincolnshire is the spiritual home of the RAF. The Waddington air show came to symbolise that special relationship. And Lincolnshire does not want the connection to be broken.

Through this petition we are asking the RAF to do all it can to find a new home for an air show in Lincolnshire. Whatever challenges exist, the will is here in Lincolnshire to make these events a spectacular success, to bring the RAF and the community together like never before, to celebrate the heritage and achievements of the service and the role this county has played in both.

Sign here to show Lincolnshire’s support for the RAF… and to register your vote for an air show in this county to celebrate our special and enduring relationship with the service.

The scale of this response has secured a formal meeting with the RAF liaison office to discuss site alternatives. I am currently drafting a briefing document that outlines the logistical capacity of the Scampton and Coningsby bases. Expect a report on the outcome of these discussions once the initial review concludes.

As someone who has served at RAF Waddington & at other locations in the county I am sad to hear that no further displays will be staged there but quite understand the reasons. RAF Scampton would appear to be an adeal location for future shows/displays !

We need an air show in the north, the southern ones are too far to go to - I've been going to Waddington since I was knee high to my Uncles Ken and Alan (both ex-RAF), and now I take my children. A crying shame if Lincolnshire loses THE air show.

RAF Scampton would be a practical solution. Most people in Lincolnshire love the RAF and have really missed the RAF Waddington show for the last two years, so for sentimental as well as financial reasons, I urge you to keep an airshow in Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire without an air show? Unthinkable. Everywhere you go in Lincolnshire there are ex- or active airfields which just goes to show how important Lincolnshire has been to the RAF, and the RAF to Lincolnshire. Move it to RAF Scampton!

The Lincolnshire Air Show attracts visitors from around the world. It boosts tourism and the local economy. The Lincolnshire link with the RAF is very strong and this showcase event cannot die when there are options available for it to continue.

Both of my sons are in the RAF based in Lincolnshire, I 'm sure they chose their careers having been taken to RAF Waddington air shows when they were just a few years old. We need to keep an air show in Lincolnshire to inspire the next generation

We need to save the airshow in the county not just for the show but it brings business to the area for locals!
