Final supporters
QP peeps... The lease for the Queens Park Cafe (London, NW6) is due to expire late 2012... The City of London Corp has decided not to retender the lease, but to agree a new lease with the current tenant... Does anyone else have an issue with this...?!
I'm sure, infact I KNOW that there are plenty of able people in the community who could AT LEAST pitch their ideas to turn the cafe into something REALLY special, but apparently the governing bodies have made up their minds... After contacting Andrew Cotton, who handles the Cafe lease, his response was this...
Dear Victoria
I presume your interest relates to tendering for the lease of the Queen's Park Cafe. It was recently decided at the management committee responsible for Queen's Park not to retender the lease of the cafe upon expiry in late 2012. It is therefore the City of London's intention to agree a new lease with the current tenant and as such there will be no opportunity for other parties to take over the lease of the premises currently.

The City of London clearly hopes we will just accept their decision and go away quietly. I am still getting so many messages from local people who know this space needs a fresh vision rather than the status quo.

Seeing this level of support confirms what I felt when I first saw that email from the City Surveyor. Our community clearly believes this space deserves a fresh vision instead of a closed door policy. This energy gives me the strength to keep pushing for fairness in our park.

Honestly the food is always cold and overpriced. Would love to see someone with a bit of actual ambition take it on.
The cafe is such a prime spot in the park. Should be open to everyone to bid on it. Why avoid competition??
Finally someone is saying something about this. The place looks tired and the menu has been the same for years. It needs a total refresh.
Total joke that they just hand it over again without looking at other options. Not fair on local businesses who would love a shot.
Unbelievable. Why not let the public have a say in who runs the place?? It belongs to the park users after all.
