Time to increase higher density around 22nd Street Skytrain Station in New Westminster
We, the residents of Connaught Heights, are writing to you about the conditions of the city. Our area has over 40% of dwellings constructed in 1960 or even earlier. We feel that not enough has been done to improve the area, compared to other parts of the city.
We understand that there is a plan to develop the area around the 22nd Street SkyTrain Station, but so far no significant progress has been made. Some of us feel like we are in limbo, waiting for the city’s “bold vision” to be developed.
Connaught Heights is a very old area with over 40% of dwellings constructed in 1960 or earlier. As such, we need your help in making some necessary changes.
WE ASK THE CITY TO:
•Much needed expansion of existing arterial routes in out of 20th street
•Additional park space to create a calm environment within an increasingly busy city
•Adding the convenience of commercial stores and amenities that can cater to the 22nd skytrain station community, which makes the area more walkable
•Additional road and intersection improvements to ease traffic flow and improve the area walkability
•Safer with more eyes on the roads and sidewalks to prevent crime and vandalism
•Implementing the option of adding more social housing where appropriate.
