la version française suit...

As Canadians of all backgrounds, we stand in solidarity with the Tunisian people who are crying out for freedom, social justice and equity, democracy and government transparency

We ask of our Canadian government to:
1) Support and speak out for the rights of Tunisian people to choose democratically elected representatives.
2) Freeze all assets of Mr. Ben Ali and the Trabelsi Clan (this includes anyone who transferred funds belonging to the Tunisian people, from Tunisia to Canada)  regardless of their residency in Canada.
3) Extradite any one belonging to the Ben Ali / Trabelsi Clan to Tunis in coordination with the Tunisian government and therefore facilitate the course of justice.
4) Respect the will of the Tunisian people in choosing their elected representatives without interference from the West in the political process
---

En tant que Canadiens de toutes les origines, nous sommes olidaire au peuple tunisien qui réclame la liberté, la justice sociale, l’équité, la démocratie et la transparence du gouvernement.

Nous demandons au gouvernement du Canada de :

1) Supporter et de défendre le droit des Tunisiens à choisir les représentants démocratiquement élus ;

2) Immobiliser tous les actifs de M. Ben Ali et de tous les membres de sa famille ;

3) Expatrier à Tunis tous les membres de la famille de M. Ben Ali ;

4) Respecter le désir des Tunisiens de choisir leurs représentants élus sans l’interférence de l’ouest dans le processus politique.

January 29, 2011

The days have been long and progress feels heavy right now. I am spending my time following up with officials who have yet to acknowledge our demands for justice, and while it is exhausting, I remain committed to the people who are still waiting for their freedom.

January 29, 2011

Reaching this new level of support feels heavy because it reminds me how many people are watching and waiting for real change. My own fatigue is constant but seeing this momentum grow makes the long nights feel a little less isolating.

Good luck to the people of Tunisia. Nobody deserves to live under a regime like that for so long.

Finally someone is speaking up about this. Canada should not be hiding stolen money for these people. Send them back and let the real justice happen.
