Make UCSB Campus Dining Allow Meal Swipes To Roll Over
According to UCSB's Campus Dining page, students who purchase residential meal plans get a certain amount of weekly swipes depending on which plan is purchased. However, the fine print of this page states that meal swipes do not roll over into the next week if they are not used. This is problematic, as the money put towards a student's food security becomes wasted if meal swipes are not used within the allotted week. Additionally, UCSB YDSA reports that 34% of students go without eating due to lack of meal swipes and 64% of students have had to ration their meal swipes. 96% of students state that they would benefit from meal swipe rollovers. Compared to other UC campuses, UCSB is one of the only two that do not allow any form of meal swipe rollover. By making UCSB Campus Dining allow meal swipes to roll over, students will be able to save their money and gain more food security while they are students at UCSB.
