My name is Erin Craven, I am a parent of a child in a Philadelphia Charter School. My son loves his school, teachers, admin & friends.

Recently we have become UNMASKED, it has been great. My son has told me how much happier he has been, how his face has cleared up from this horrible rash & now that’s going to change….

as of April 18th, 2022 they will be implementing in Philadelphia a mask mandate. The schools feel as though they MUST follow this mandate. It is not a law. They can’t force them to do this. There is no mask police coming and checking if we’re having our children wear masks.

Covid positives are up, but there are ZERO hospitalizations in Philadelphia per personal references I do know. We can’t live in fear of a virus forever. The studies have shown it’s improved. Children above all are less likely to transmit Covid.

Since these children have worn masks they have become depressed, set back with their education and more antisocial. They are scaring our children for what? Covering up the faces of our most vulnerable to do what exactly? How can these poor educators see how this child may be feeling or reacting to something that may be serious? What if the child can’t speak? Or needs help?

There have been studies on these masks at Florida University they have found over 50 bacteria in a child’s mask from only ONE 8 hour day.

YES Covid is a thing, but NO we do not need to live in fear or jeopardize our children’s health after two years. They have found a common medium where we are living comfortably and safely enough. Enough is enough. We can’t sit back and let this government control our lives.

It is sad to force these kids to wear a mask and I understand it’s not the schools fault but we need to fight for our children’s rights.

This petition is for ALL OF PHILADELPHIA SCHOOLS, Including public, Catholic, charter, etc

Seeing this level of engagement confirms that many families in our community share a deep concern for the daily well-being of our students. This growing consensus reflects a collective desire to prioritize the social and emotional health of children as they navigate their school days.

Enough is enough. These kids need to breathe and see their friends faces. Stop the insanity and let them just be kids again.

My daughter is so sick of these things she wont even talk about school anymore. Its just sad to see taking them off was the best thing that ever happened to her mental health.

I strongly am against children being covered up in a face mask.. my 5yo son who’s been in one since Pre-K4 has developed a speech problem. I strongly believe it’s because he’s learning the important letter sounds from day 1 without seeing a teacher‘s mouth which to me is the most important thing to see for a child just learning. These children learn from facial expressions and that’s all being taken away for a virus that’s not harming children or even adults at this point! As a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Jefferson Hospital, we have no ill patients in our ICU’s sick with Covid. To me this isn’t about a deadly virus but the City of Philadelphia trying to control our lives instead of letting us decide what’s best, this is not okay and I will not support my children wearing a face mask any longer!
