Taylor’s Law: Ending Domestic Violence for Good
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read our petition.
What began as a call for justice has grown into a mission of remembrance and reform. Last month, one of our agency’s families suffered an unimaginable loss—their only daughter was taken by domestic violence. In her honor, we have renamed our effort Taylor’s Law, so that her legacy can help ensure no one else loses a child, a sister, or a friend to such senseless violence.
Once we reach our goal of signatures, we will present Taylor’s Law to Congress, urging that it be added to Title 18 of the U.S. Code to strengthen and modernize the laws protecting victims of domestic abuse.
What Taylor’s Law Proposes
- Mental, Emotional, and Economic Abuse as Felonies
These forms of abuse will become chargeable crimes classified as felonies, carrying a minimum sentence of 30 days in jail with no option for bail. - Stronger Penalties for Physical and Sexual Abuse
Offenders will face a minimum of 60 days in jail with no bail, ensuring victims are protected while justice is served. - Victim Relocation and Safety Measures
Victims will have access to state-to-state relocation services through our developing program, the Justice For Task Force (JFTF), providing safety and a chance for a fresh start. - Mandatory Prison Terms for Stalking or Relocation Violations
Any offender who relocates or stalks their victim will face a minimum of five years in prison with no bail. - Officer Training and Support
Law enforcement officers involved in domestic violence cases will receive mandatory decompression therapy and educational training, ensuring they are fully prepared and emotionally supported to handle these sensitive cases. - Relocation and Stalking Notifications
Upon release, offenders will receive a relocation/stalking notice, distributed to all law enforcement agencies. Violating this notice will result in an immediate and enforceable warrant. - No Plea Bargains for Domestic Violence Charges
Offenders will be held accountable in full—no plea deals or charge reductions will be accepted for domestic violence crimes. - Severe Penalties for Fentanyl Crimes
Taylor’s Law will also impose strong penalties for fentanyl manufacturing and distribution, with all seized funds redirected to victim assistance and prevention programs.
