UWS Change for Students
To the attention of; Professor Janice Reid (Vice-Chancellor), Professor Stuart Campbell (Pro Vice-Chancellor, Learning and Teaching), and Assoc. Prof. Steve Wilson (Head of School, Education). The University of Western Sydney (UWS) has slashed millions of dollars from its expenditure, and the results are clear for all to see. UWS was once considered by many as a proud, locally focused, educationally advanced institution. However the reality for students is a far less rosy picture. Students suffer from; - Administrative ineffectiveness, - A University culture of mediocrity, - A University leadership detached from the values of Education, This is costing us (the students), not only financially, but professionally. We the students want action. Genuine action. We Deserve it. We've earned it. And We'll get it! TIME FOR ACTION, TIME FOR CHANGE, NOW! YOU (UWS) SAY YOUR MISSION IS: "To be a university of international standing and outlook, achieving excellence through scholarship, teaching, learning, research and service to its regional, national and international communities, beginning with the people of Greater Western Sydney" WE (Students) SAY: "We've been neglected for too long. We don't receive excellence in service. A service which we pay for" YOU SAY YOUR VALUES ARE: "- excellence and quality in all endeavours - scholarly rigour and integrity - equity of access and inclusiveness - ethics and accountability" WE SAY: "Excellence & quality has been missing from basic student services. The often ineffective administration of courses results in student in-equality, and that means we get a low quality degree. We want YOU to be accountable to US (the students)" UWS Change For Students
