Support Autism Services in Va (House Bill 83)
The residents of Virginia strongly support the passage of Virginia House Bill 83 to mandate health insurers in Virginia to cover habilitative services for Virginia children with autism, and other disorders causing developmental delays. Habilitative services means health and social services directed toward increasing and maintaining the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social functioning of developmentally delayed individuals, including occupational, physical, and speech therapy; assistance, training, supervision, and monitoring in the areas of self-care, sensory and motor development, interpersonal skills, communication, and socialization; and reduction or elimination of maladaptive behavior. We, the undersigned, urge the General Assembly to pass Virginia House Bill 83. Thank you for your service to the people of Virginia.
