Dear Rector Monar,

We, the students of Voltaire Promotion, are gravely concerned about the announced plan for the Closing Ceremony in Bruges. Offering only 240 seats for guests at the ceremony means that only about 1/3 of your students will be able to invite family or friends to the event. Given the clear desire of many students to bring guests, we are disappointed that not everyone who wants to will be able to share this important moment with their loved ones. We do not understand why such a limited format has been chosen, and believe that it should be possible to organize this event in a venue where the whole promotion in Bruges can participate and everyone who wishes to can invite up to two guests.

Therefore, we ask you, Rector Monar, and the organizing committee, to reconsider this decision in light of the wishes of your students, and to organize a closing ceremony that will make us all proud to be part of this great institution.

Yours sincerely

I have been reading through the messages you all are sending and the frustration is clear because we all just want to celebrate our hard work with the people who supported us through these years. I am currently reaching out to the administration to explain why the current venue plan fails so many of us. We deserve a ceremony that includes everyone.

Seeing the surge of support from my fellow students confirms that we all feel the same sting of being left out of this milestone. It is heartening to know that so many of you refuse to settle for a ceremony that excludes our families.

RIDICULOUS that we have to fight for seats at our own ceremony. Just find a bigger room!!

I really hope they listen to us. It feels unfair that some family members get to come while others are left out just because of a lottery.

My parents are flying all the way from Canada for this. It would be devastating if they couldn't see me walk across the stage after all the hard work this year.

Regardless of the fact, whether I am planning to bring somebody or not, I believe that graduation ceremony is not the moment to compete for places.

Thanks! My parents did not have the possibility to attend both my Bachelor's and Master's graduation in Italy. Thus, I would really like to bring them to the ceremony, hoping that this will be my last graduation :)

Thank you for writing this. Even though I was lucky in the lottery I think that other people should have the chance to bring their guests.
