we actually did it and the city is finally dropping the overnight parking ban. it took a lot of patience to get here but they heard us loud and clear. keep an eye out for when the new rules start so we can make sure they stick to their word.
This is a petition to show support for the repeal of city ordinance 11.32.290 that bans overnight parking on the city streets of Wauwatosa. This law is over reaching, inconvenient, and just plain silly! Parking on the street is a right granted to anyone living in a residence. Sure there can be parking restrictions; certain days, certain times, for city services such as street cleaning etc. But an outright ban on all street parking is too much. And to make matters worse, I have to dial a 900 number to "register" a car to be able to stay on the street over night, and I have a limit of 15 calls guests a year This law is too much. I've lived in many different city's and town in the midwest, and this is the first time I've ever seen a city that bans overnight parking just to ban overnight parking. Sign this petition that will go to the city council showing an overwhelming support to repeal this law in our city. Please sign your name, email, and your Wauwatosa address so there are no duplicates or fake signers.
This rule is awful. Especially since there are no signs about the no overnight parking. When we first we moved to Tosa from out of state, we were not informed about this annoying rule and got a ticket. At first we thought it was a scam because there was no sign enforcing it and it was at our house?

It is a waste of time to have to call in to the non-emergency police every time and they have better things to do than take my license plate number.

It’s ridiculous how we can’t park overnight where we live. My boyfriend and I have already used both of our 15 “free passes” for the year within a month and a half. We have to switch off and park at the end of our driveway, blocking the sidewalk just so we don’t get a ticket. How is that better than parking on the street?!

I've been in tosa for 3 years and it's been hard with out over night parking. I walk to my car in the milwaukee district about 8 blocks away from where I live in tosa... It used to not be a problem. But now I have a job that starts at 6am, 30min away and not excited to walk through unplowed sidewalks/streets to get to my car at 520am... Wish I could park outside my place on the street....

I have lived in numerous cities throughout my life and never have I been unable to park on my own street. I think the ban of overnight parking was just a cover to keep those of lower socioeconomic standing out of Wauwatosa in a more covert manner than flat out classism and racism.

I pay over $700 in rent and the street is the only extra parking that my significant other can park overnight. I should have the right to invite guests to stay over as long as I please. They should have the option to park.

Let home owners park on the street. If we need to call in per night that is fine, but with our high taxes this needs to be approved. So odd visitors are allowed to but not the home owner who pays.
