We want an official explanation as to why VAR didn't intervine at Selhurst Park.

In the final minute of the game between Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, Henri Lansbury scored a perfectly legitimate equaliser for Villa to make the score 1-1. However, referee Kevin Friend disallowed the goal, instead showing a yellow card to Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.

VAR was brought into football to eliminate 'clear and obvious' errors made by match officials. Undoubtably, this decision was a clear and obvious error by Kevin Friend, as Gary Cahill clearly and obviously sticks his foot out to foul Grealish in the penalty area. The ball then rolled through to Lansbury, who scored a perfectly legitimate goal.

At this stage it is unclear whether referee Kevin Friend had already blew his whistle for what he had seen to be simulation from Grealish or not.

If this is the case, we ask the Premier League to give us an official explanation as to why Andrew Madley (the VAR match official) did not intervine to award Villa a penalty kick for what was 100% a foul by Gary Cahill inside the penalty area.

If the referee did not blow his whistle before the ball crossed the goaline, then again, why didn't intervine to correct Kevin Friend and award the goal which clearly should have stood.

We speak on behalf of all Villa fans, and ask the Premier League for an official explanation as to why VAR did not play the role it was brought in to do.
