I just got the news that the buses are running on the old hourly schedule again and I honestly have to sit down because my head is spinning. It took way too long to get here but they finally listened to the students who were stuck waiting hours just to …

At the beginning of the 2010/2011 school year the schedule for the Welland/St Catharines connection bus has been cut back drastically for Brock University students. Previously, there was an agreement in which Niagara College and Brock jointly funded a bus for both schools student population.

This year Niagara wanted to improve the schedule for their students. Neither Brock and/or Welland Transit has supplied extra funding to this service for students. The old funding method left only enough money for half of the buses to run to and from Brock University. Instead of 16 scheduled buses, this year there are 8 buses running per day.

For the many Brock students in Welland this is a huge inconvenience. Not only does it effect waiting times but it is also an issue for students who work around their school schedule. Staying at Brock for an extra 4 hours isn't an option for those who need to work after class to pay tuition.

This petition is to get the hourly bus schedule back. Please sign and show your support.

I spent the entire morning staring at the bus schedule and then at my own bank account thinking about how absurd it is that we are expected to just conjure up extra time and money out of thin air. I have been emailing the transit office back and forth but honestly the responses feel like they are just reading from a script that ignores the fact that we have jobs to get to and classes that actually matter. It is so frustrating but your comments keep showing up in my inbox and remind me that I am definitely not the only person feeling like this whole situation is completely broken.

Ridiculous. I have a job in Welland and I can't be stuck at campus for 3 hours waiting for the next bus. Fix the schedule.

I am literally late for my shift every single week because of these wait times. NOT OKAY.

The commute is already long enough without cutting half the service. sort it out.

16 buses to 8 is a joke. how are we supposed to get to class on time? do better.
