MMIW stands for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. This issue has been going on for too long, where Indigenous Women and Girls have been coming up missing or murdered. MMIW was created to spread awareness on what is going on. There are hundreds upon hundreds of cases of MMIW and some of them have yet to be solved. A Lot of indigenous people are affected by this topic. This can be their mother, daughter, cousin, aunt, grandmother, niece that are going up there missing and murdered. The person that started creating MMIW was Jodi Voice Yellowfish. She and many other people came a long way to stop what is having to Indigenous women and girls from going missing or, even worse, being murdered. With her creating MMIW, it helped to get what was happening to Indigenous women and girls out there. shows us all of the other organizations that they have. Some are tribal and non-tribal, but they want this problem to end and stop having Indigenous women and girls being missing and murdered. Now, just because there are websites or organizations for MMIW doesn't mean that the problem is all done with cause, it's not.

When I looked at the statistics/data that I had founded for 2021 of this year was that Indigenous women and girls have to face murder rates that are 10 times the national average. In 2016, there were almost 6,000 cases of Indigenous Women being missing or murdered. 46% of Indigenous Women will either have experienced rape or physical violence. Indigenous women and girls that have been murdered by non--indigenous people. These statistics/data do not lie at all. We need to take this information that we have and put a stop to these numbers.

Nobody ever really talks about what is happening to Indigenous women and girls and it is really sad. Everyday Indigenous families have to worry about either their mother, daughter, cousins, aunts, grandmothers, nieces can go missing or get murdered at any time and no one has yet to help them get the word out and spread awareness on this topic that has been going on for so long and there needs to be a stop to all of this. There are still people that have family members that are a part of MMIW that cases have still not been solved yet or the police just rule it out and an accident. These girls and women deserve justice and their families are still trying to get justice for them. You have to sit back and think if that was your mother, daughter, cousin, aunt, grandmother, niece that was coming up missing or murdered, you would want justice for them, too. With signing this petition, it will help people to know about MMIW and know what is happening in the Indigenous community and have schools in our community help bring light to this topic. Let's put an end to Indigenous women and girls going missing and being murdered.
