The undersigned parties agree that the publication, sales, transfer, trade, and commercial use of "WHOIS" data is in whole or in part a violation of privacy and confidentiality laws within the United States of America as well as numerous other nations abroad. Noting that medical and investment records of individuals released to the public could induce hardship to involved parties, similarly, whois records can be exploited and data mined which leads to more spam, more postal junk mail, and potentially significant harm via "phishing" and other electronic exploitation schemes. This petition is to force registrars to make domain privacy freely available to registrants.
